SUMMARY:RENT Conference 2019 in Berlin
DESCRIPTION:RENT XXXIII  will take place in Berlin\, Germany\nThe 2019 Conference Main Theme is : \n“Embracing uncertainty: entrepreneurship as a key capability for the 21st century”  \nConference Chairpersons: \nRené Mauer\, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation & Yi Jiang\, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship (Jean-Baptiste Say Institute for Entrepreneurship\, ESCP Europe\, Berlin\, Germany) Entrepreneurship offers unique insights for engaging with uncertainty. In entrepreneurship and innovation practice\, we are now facing the constant beating of the digital transformation drum\, while in entrepreneurship research more and more contributions are putting an emphasis on uncertainty. Several entrepreneurial approaches (e.g. effectuation\, bricolage\, improvisation\, impulsive behavior) have recently been identified as ground-breaking models of our field\, coupled with different tools (e.g. business modeling\, lean startup\, design thinking) and various empirical contexts (e.g. high-growth\, sustainable\, or newcomer entrepreneurship). Join us for RENT 2019 at ESCP Europe Berlin in advancing the field of entrepreneurship by discussing and challenging uncertainty as a cornerstone of a proprietary entrepreneurship theory. \nRENT conference Overview of our ECSB pre-conference activities  ECSB Doctoral Workshop ECSB Post-Doctoral Paper Development Workshop ECSB Mid-Career Faculty Consortium Professional Development Workshop

SUMMARY:Co-Branded: Workshop Experiments in Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Co-Branded: Workshop Experiments in Entrepreneurship \nABOUT THE WORKSHOP\nExperimental designs provide a powerful lens to determine causality and have been labeled “the most rigorous of all research designs” (Trochim\, 2001: 191). However\, relatively few entrepreneurship studies use an experimental design. \nThe workshop consists of two main activities: 1) paper presentations and discussion with peers and experts; and 2) plenary keynote sessions\, where experts will address challenges in designing and conducting research using experimental methods\, with a special focus on ensuring causality by design. \nAIMS OF THE WORKSHOP  \n1.     Receive individualized feedback from peers and experts on your working paper;\n2.     Increase your knowledge of conducting experiments\, focusing on best practices and mistakes to avoid;\n3.     Develop your network with other scholars conducting research using similar methodological approaches as yourself. \nFOR WHOM?  \nThe workshop is targeted at PhD candidates\, Post-Docs\, and early-stage Assistant Professors working on studies in entrepreneurship research using experimental methodologies. The paper could be co-authored (with senior scholars)\, but the leading author and potential participant of the workshop should be an early-career researcher. Working papers will be selected based on both the theoretical contribution to the field and the rigor of the implementation of experimental methods. \n  \nMore details
