SUMMARY:ECSB Webinar "Stressors\, recovery and well-being of entrepreneurs"
DESCRIPTION:There is an increasing interest in entrepreneurs’ resilience and well-being from researchers and practitioners alike. This is because entrepreneurs’ resilience and ‘happiness’ relate to their creativity\, productivity\, and their business’ success (e.g.\, Stephan\, 2018; Wach\, Stephan\, Weinberger\, & Wegge\, 2020; Weinberger\, Wach\, Stephan\, & Wegge\, 2018). The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated this interest. For instance\, our international project “Supporting Entrepreneurship during the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Global Study of Entrepreneurs’ Resilience and Well-being” documented the profound threat to entrepreneurs’ well-being and their businesses stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic. While entrepreneurs were occasionally thriving\, most struggled with increased stress and impaired mental well-being. Many lacked strategies to protect their well-being and some gave up eventually their businesses because of it. Existing research into recovery documents its positive effects but also highlights how difficult it can be to engage in recovery when work is particularly stressful (Sonnentag\, 2018). This presentation will show newly initiated research agenda on entrepreneurs’ recovery (Wach et al.\, 2020\, Weinberger et al.\, 2018; Williamson\, Gish\, & Stephan\, 2021)\, that is moving from documenting challenges in entrepreneurs’ well-being to implementing and testing recovery strategies to help enhance entrepreneurs’ well-being and their resilience. In this regard\, preliminary findings will be given about intervention to equip entrepreneurs with so-called recovery strategies\, i.e. strategies that are proven to aid recovery from work stress and thereby allow entrepreneurs to safeguard their well-being. \nAbout the speaker:\nDominika Wach is researcher and lecturer in the department of Work and Organizational Psychology at Technische Universität Dresden\, Germany. Her specialties are entrepreneurship and occupational health. Amongst others\, she published her research in Journal of Business Venturing\, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice\, Journal of Small Business Management\, and International Small Business Journal. Dr. Wach was a head of a Polish partner institution and research team in research projects on success factors of SMEs in Germany\, Czech Republic\, and Poland funded by German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and she has published on the topic of entrepreneurial performance\, well-being\, and recovery. In many societies\, masculinity is often linked to traits such as competitiveness\, risk-taking\, assertiveness\, and individualism\, which are also seen as key traits for successful entrepreneurship. Historically\, entrepreneurship has been largely dominated by men\, and women have often faced significant barriers to entering the field. This has led to the development of a “masculinized” culture around entrepreneurship\, which can create challenges for other marginalized groups seeking to start their own businesses. \nOur panellists are experts of gender and masculinities in the context of entrepreneurship. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to join the ECSB webinar “Advancing entrepreneurial ecosystem research” with Dr. Christina Theodoraki on 8 March 2023 at 3:00-4:00 pm (CET). \nWhile the concept of an ecosystem is increasingly attracting the attention of researchers\, practitioners\, and governments\, there is still partial (and even limited) knowledge about how building a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem fits different contexts\, countries\, populations\, or industries. The objective of this research presentation is to shed light on this little-known concept in order to advance the discussion on territorial and international ecosystem dynamics based on current publications. This presentation aims at providing a research protocol with established and future avenues for research publication. Likewise\, best practices and models will be provided on how to advance research on entrepreneurial ecosystems. Finally\, research opportunities\, special issues and conferences will be shared. \nAbout the speaker:\nDr. Christina Theodoraki is an Associate Professor in entrepreneurship and strategic management at TBS Education (in Toulouse\, France)\, affiliate professor at the International University of Monaco\, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Development Strategies at the University of Indiana and Business Development Manager at the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Research Network. She also leads the Babson Collaborative Research Group on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. Rohrer College of Business. He serves as Executive Director of the Rowan Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and on the screening committee for Rowan’s $25M Innovation Venture Fund. In 2019 he became the youngest person ever elected to serve as President of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship\, the largest academic organization dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship education through bold teaching\, scholarship\, and practice. Currently\, Liguori serves as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Small Business Management and Executive Editor of Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy. In 2021 Liguori was named a Justin G. Longenecker Fellow of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship\, the organization’s highest honor\, for his “outstanding contribution to the development\, furtherance and benefit of small and medium businesses.” Liguori’s work has been published in leading outlets including Journal of Management\, Small Business Economics\, Journal of Small Business Management\, Journal of Business Research\, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development\, and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research. SUMMARY:PDW: Assessing Multiple-enterprise Social Impacts and Stakeholder Values
DESCRIPTION:In this 2.5 hour collaborative workshop “Assessing Multiple-enterprise Social Impacts and Stakeholder Values: The Benefits of a Human Capabilities Lens for Social Entrepreneurship“\, participants are introduced to the Human Capabilities Approach (HCA) as a multidimensional\, people-centered framework for social impact negotiation and assessment. As an entrepreneurial tool\, HCA provides a fertile ground for coordination among diverse sets of stakeholder groups with varied values and priorities in settings of social entrepreneurship. Workshop participants are given opportunities to use the HCA framework to shift their entrepreneurial awareness beyond isolated impacts towards the broader set of multi-faceted (and\, ideally\, socially-sustainable) impacts of an enterprise.  The HCA framework is also relevant for board-level corporate governance and strategic management\, particularly towards determining social impact objectives and assessing performance. DESCRIPTION:The RENT 2022 Conference Main Theme is :“Re-thinking entrepreneurship after the crisis” \nThe COVID-19 pandemic and the many lockdowns in economies worldwide create a unique situation with no documented equivalent in the entrepreneurship literature (Kraus et al.\, 2020). Nevertheless\, a body of research on entrepreneurship and crisis management (e.g.\, Cowling et al.\, 2012; Williams and Vorley\, 2015) offers two research streams in particular that could be informative about the COVID-19 pandemic. The first one deals with how start-ups respond to a crisis and refer specifically to the concept of resilience (Williams et al.\, 2017). DESCRIPTION:ECSB offers various events on the pre-conference day of RENT 2022 Conference on 16 November 2022\, in Naples\, Italy. Participation in the events is free\, but participants need to be ECSB members or registered for the RENT conference in order to join. The number of seats is limited and registration is required (see instructions below). \nECSB Post-Doctoral Paper Development Workshop\nECSB Post-Doctoral Paper Development workshop aims to offer support for publishing for the early-career researchers. The activity has two parts: a face-to-face event that takes place a day before the RENT conference and an on-line follow up. The event at the RENT conference starts with a roundtable discussion on the challenges in getting published\, in building up your own research portfolio and in combining teaching and research. After that\, you will break out in small groups and get your paper discussed by senior researchers and peers in the group. You also will meet other early career researchers with similar interests and can find out about possibilities for research collaborations. SUMMARY:7th Effectuation Conference
DESCRIPTION:After two years of COVID hiatus and a series of events in Japan\, the 7th Effectuation Conference is scheduled for November 14th-15th\, 2022 in Naples\, Italy. The dates are right before the RENT XXXVI 2022 Conference (November 16th-18th\, 2022\, Naples\, Italy) and the event co-organized with ECSB – European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. \nWe invite participants with a research interest\, a teaching interest and/or an interest in the practical application of effectuation to present their work. For those with a primary interest in research\, we require participants to present a working paper. This work will be discussed in small groups in dedicated workshop sessions. For those with a primary interest in teaching and/or practice\, we require participants to present a description or design of a practice they have used or are considering. We plan to have interactive sessions in which the various practices are shared between participants. New this year\, we are also accepting case study submissions. SUMMARY:Teaching Effectuation: from theory to pedagogy
DESCRIPTION:There is a broad and rather optimistic view of entrepreneurship emerging from Scandinavia. One that embodies creation of all kinds of value. One that recognises the entrepreneurial trait as an intrinsic\, very human quality\, that allows both students and teachers to almost intuitively talk about effectual processes\, changemaking and value creation. This perspective subsequently brings to light one of the biggest challenges of teaching entrepreneurship – how do we teach our students to not just talk the talk\, but to actually walk the walk? \nSarah Robinson\, our guest speaker for this workshop\, has adopted this perspective and closely studied its impact on the theory and pedagogy of effectuation. “We are all familiar with effectual processes” she says\, “but have not been ‘schooled’ into them.” In other words\, to be knowledgeable about something\, and to truly know it\, are two different things. It may be easy to talk about effectuation\, but to create and commit to the process of learning it is decidedly more difficult. \nIn this workshop therefore\, Sarah will discuss not only the implications of this challenge\, but also suggest a solution for how it might be approached. The workshop will unveil the goals\, consequences and dilemmas of bringing the theories of effectuation into the intricate confines of practical pedagogy. It will teach ways to unravel these enigmas and introduce a spearheading change-maker model\, with the proven potential to act as a stable and useful foundation for teaching effectuation. \nThis change-maker model brings attention to aspects that are otherwise easily neglected. It supports teachers in creating an education that facilitates the student’s ability to see their learning as a process\, to articulate who they are and what they can do. It illuminates the importance of collaboration\, curiosity and imagination\, of taking risks and dealing with uncertainty. Through learning and discussing all of this you will not only gain fresh perspectives – you will generate new knowledge together\, inspire each other and collectively expand upon the vast landscape of entrepreneurship education. \nWORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR\nSarah Robinson ​​is Associate Professor and Educational Anthropologist at the Centre for Educational Development at Aarhus University. SUMMARY:Granada International Doctoral Summer School in Entrepreneurship Research (GIDSSER)
DESCRIPTION:Granada International Doctoral Summer School in Entrepreneurship Research (GIDSSER) will take place from 14th to 17th of June\, 2022\, in the beautiful city of Granada (Spain). \nThis summer school aims to provide an opportunity for PhD students and researchers in entrepreneurship to expand their knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship as a societal phenomenon. Some of these topics include social entrepreneurship\, the role of context in entrepreneurship research\, identity and gender in entrepreneurship\, inequality and entrepreneurship\, as well as sustainability and entrepreneurship. \nIn the session dedicated to each topic\, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the state of the art\, commonly used methods and theories\, and potential new directions for research. SUMMARY:NCSB 2022 - 21st Nordic Conference on Small Business Research
DESCRIPTION:Since its inception in 1980 the NCSB conference has been a biannual event in the Nordic tradition characterized by an open atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas between researchers with research interests in the field of small business and entrepreneurship. The 2022 NCSB conference in Kolding\, Denmark will continue this tradition and welcomes papers from all areas of the small business and entrepreneurship. \nThe conference will feature a mix of special theme tracks\, general tracks and paper development tracks. \nSpecial theme tracks will focus on research themes that are central in Nordic research on small business and entrepreneurship and will be announced later on the website. General tracks will be divided into an entrepreneurship track and a SME track. Special theme tracks and general tracks will feature presentations of research papers followed by constructive feedback in plenary discussions. In the paper development tracks\, participants are divided into groups in which all participants have read the assigned papers\, and time will be distributed to group discussions on how to improve the paper. The paper development tracks will be of particular interest and value to young scholars. DESCRIPTION:The 5th edition of the Paper Development Seminar (5PDS) will be held in Seville\, on April 25th-26th\, 2022. \nPapers / proposals applying a process perspective to entrepreneurship are welcome. Call is open to any contributions analysing the entrepreneurial process\, may they be conceptual or empirical and\, in this latter case\, using quantitative (ideally longitudinal\, but also cross-sectional) and/or qualitative methods. \nSubmissions will be peer reviewed. SUMMARY:ECSB Webinar with Prof. Monder Ram: "Critical engagement in diversity and entrepreneurship: Insights from the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship"
DESCRIPTION:The seismic effects of COVID-19\, Black Lives Matter and Brexit have exposed endemic racial inequalities in the UK. Policy responses are mixed but encouraging entrepreneurship amongst ethnic minority communities is likely to form part of the solution. For 20 years\, the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) has operated at the intersection of debates on inequality and enterprise\, and worked with practitioners to ‘make a difference’. CREME’s modus operandi is to promote change with practitioners whilst pursuing theoretically informed research. This talk presents insights from the many shades of engagement that characterise CREME’s work—from stakeholder consultation on conventional research projects to the creation of new ventures to support for migrant businesses. \nAbout the speaker:\nProfessor Monder Ram OBE is the Director of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) at the Aston University. He is a leading authority on small business and ethnic minority entrepreneurship research and has published widely on the subject\, and has extensive experience of working in and acting as a consultant to small and ethnic minority businesses. SUMMARY:ECSB Webinar "Entrepreneurship by design: a pedagogy of making for entrepreneurial education"
DESCRIPTION:Entrepreneurship by Design is a pedagogic approach to entrepreneurship education to help transform creative ideas and early-stage business concepts into viable products and services. The approach also helps designers\, inventors\, and developers adopt an entrepreneurial mindset to identify business opportunities when creating new products and technology solutions through a unique mix combining design and business development toolkits. The method aims to help both groups to reduce the gap between ideas and markets. On the entrepreneurs’ side\, the gap typically originates around either lack of sufficient user research and experimentation or deficiency in design skills. On the designers’ side\, the gap is due to the inability to identify business opportunities arising from the design process itself. The proposed method develops around a framework that combines the following ingredients:\n1. Empathy and Human-Centered Design\n2. Entrepreneurial Creativity as ambivalent mindset and collective intelligence\n3. The development of Makers’ skills grounded on prototyping and effectuation mentality\n4. Design Science: the importance of product aesthetics and the understanding of how much complexity the users want \nHuman-Centered Design help entrepreneurs find the right balance between the desirability\, technical feasibility\, and business viability of a product. Entrepreneurial Creativity supports ways to find meaningful and attractive problems and to hone creative skills through apparently inconsistent behaviors. Prototyping will push entrepreneurs outside of their comfort zone to validate their ideas or change them based on higher awareness of technical and user constraints. It will also foster an experiential approach towards entrepreneurship. Finally\, Design Science help entrepreneurs to become aware of the importance of good Design and aesthetics to improve user experience. \nSpeaker\nDr. Luca Iandoli is Associate Dean for Global and Online Programs at St. John’s University\, College of Professional Studies\, and an Professor in the Division of Computer Science\, Mathematics\, and Science. He has published +150 papers on the analysis of interfirm collaboration\, collective intelligence in online networks\, and digital entrepreneurship\, serving as a member of the editorial board of several academic journals. To join ISBE: visit https://isbe.org.uk/about-us/how-to-join/. \nPDW Description\nPDW Chairs: Sarah Dodd (Strathclyde University) and Friederike Welter (University of Siegen) \nBackground: Sustainability and entrepreneurship have been uneasy bedfellows through much of our short discipline history. Enterprise has been seen largely as a global driver for economic growth\, and for the creation of financial value through new industries and ventures. Yet our ever-present critical chorus has made considerable progress in recent years\, too\, towards sustainable entrepreneurship. This reminds us that so much of real value cannot be measured in dollars and cents\, and that entrepreneurship has the potential to be a sustaining\, stewarding\, re-energizing\, joyful\, creative force\, too. We have come to celebrate and study the smaller scale\, the frugal\, the locally responsive and embedded – a human and humane entrepreneurship which nourishes resources instead of draining them. \nBut what about us as entrepreneurship scholars? COVID 19 is but one major impact factor amongst many which have\, perhaps ironically\, made our research less sustaining of ourselves\, whilst we simultaneously embrace the principles of sustainable entrepreneurship for other peoples and places. \nWhat can we learn from these new insights\, and these everyday entrepreneurs\, that can be brought into our own practices? How can we transform entrepreneurship research into a practice which also nurtures our passions\, peoples\, and places? How can we\, reflexively\, develop and lead sustainable entrepreneurship scholarship that feeds our own minds\, bodies and souls? How can we ourselves enact and manifest the virtues and values of sustainable entrepreneurship that we strive to understand and promote in the lives of others? How do we cope with the ever-increasing demands of our profession on our worktime\, and the growing volume of outputs to be delivered? How do we engage in self-care? These are some of the questions we want to explore in our PDW. \nWe believe these questions to be of great importance for the future of individual research careers as well as for the academic system as a whole. Research is\, for most of us and most of the times\, a dream career. We are privileged in combining passion and work. On the other hands\, institutional demands and expectations have grown tremendously\, and excellence is anticipated across all three of our missions. The pandemic has highlighted the numerous competing – if not outright conflicting – demands of our research careers. Junior and early career scholars faced difficulties in making the next career step. Those involved in family care juggled too many responsibilities at the same time. All of this had or will have an impact on ourselves\, our research and our professional future. \nTherefore\, we suggest it is time to begin acting more like sustainable entrepreneurs within our own research practice\, learning from our own research results\, and building new ways of being and becoming sustainable entrepreneurship scholars\, including ourselves within that circle of creative care. \nTarget groups: entrepreneurship scholars at different stages of their career\, looking for learning and networking opportunities to apply their research results / advice to entrepreneurs to their own working lives\, and those of the researchers they nurture. \nOutline of the PDW: Participants will be asked to “bring” along with them digital postcards which represent and illustrate their experiences (insights\, learnings and visions) as to what self-sustaining entrepreneurship research might mean to each of them. In groups of 5-6 people\, each participant will have 3 minutes to share these images and insights. \nGroups will then be invited to each co-create a virtual bricolage of self-sustaining entrepreneurship research\, from their postcards and other sources. \nAfter a short break\, the second hour of the workshop will see participants reflecting on themes and patterns emerging from the bricolage gallery. SUMMARY:Conducting Research on Eco-innovation and Circular Economy in SMEs
DESCRIPTION:The University of Castilla La Mancha in association with the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB)\, who co-brands the event\, organizes a two-day conference at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Cuenca Campus with the title “Conducting Research on Eco-innovation and Circular Economy in SMEs” in December 9-10th\, 2021 \nNowadays we are more conscious than ever about the climate change impacts in every dimension of our life and the fact that we are worsening life conditions for future generations.  Therefore\, there is agreement at all levels (policy\, civil society\, business leaders) about the urgent importance of acting to handle environmental challenges. Environmental sustainability refers to the set of corporate behaviours and strategies that “mitigate a firm’s impact on the natural environment\,” which include “implementing products\, processes\, and policies that reduce energy consumption and waste\, us[ing] ecologically sustainable resources\, and employ[ing] environmental management systems” (Walls\, Phan\, & Berrone\, 2011: 73). Along this line\, eco-innovation and circular economy business models are referent behaviours for achieving environmental sustainability. \n\nWe aim it as an interactive event that\, hopefully\, supports our participants in actively making a difference with their work. \nThe Conference will consist of plenary sessions and thematic sessions for the different topics of the papers submitted. These sessions will be held in English. \nWe welcome contributions of conceptual and empirical (qualitative or quantitative) nature. SUMMARY:4th PISB Conference “Beyond the crisis: what is the future for small businesses? Challenges\, opportunities and lessons learned”
DESCRIPTION:Piccola Impresa/Small Business invites scholars to submit their original papers to the 4th PISB Conference\, titled “Beyond the crisis: what is the future for small businesses? Challenges\, opportunities and lessons learned”. The Conference will be held virtually in Urbino (IT) next 3-4 December 2021. Thanks to the conference we would like to advance our understanding of how SMEs are preparing to tackle and overcome the current pandemic crisis and how they can effectively address\, enhance and exploit policy measures at the local\, national and European level (i.e. NextGenerationEU\, The UK Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Strategy) in order to move successfully towards this completely renewed and challenging scenario. \nThe conference will be virtual and presented in English. \nA selection of the best papers will be invited to publish in Piccola Impresa/Small Business with a fast review process. Special attention will be addressed to papers aiming to answer the PISB Special Issue call for papers “SMEs and human entrepreneurship overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic”. SUMMARY:Leuphana Transformational Entrepreneurship Days
DESCRIPTION:Facing the grand challenges of the 21st century\, society needs to change quickly to secure our future. While this requires collective and political action\, actors such as entrepreneurs can also play a key role in addressing these grand challenges. With the rise of environmental\, social and sustainable entrepreneurship\, it becomes clear that many entrepreneurs nowadays aim to make a positive impact on society. As researchers\, educators and supporters of practice\, we strive to help them to achieve exactly this: a societal impact which contributes to solving the grand challenges of our time. If creating societal impact is part of our aspiration for entrepreneurship\, while also fostering innovative ideas\, we are basically talking about an impact-driven version of entrepreneurship\, as “Transformational entrepreneurship is to promote enterprise and entrepreneurship through a systemic approach\, bringing about transformation in socio-economic development.” (Maas & Jones\, 2019\, p. 4). \n\n\n\nCreating societal impact through entrepreneurship research\, education and practice\n\nCreating positive impact is a challenging endeavour. Impact is difficult to fully understand\, to examine in-depth and to measure (Gupta et al.\, 2020) – and even harder to create. Nevertheless\,  entrepreneurial efforts are often fuelled by this ‘paradox’: “entrepreneurs lack the knowledge\, skills\, authority\, and resources necessary to resolve grand challenges – in fact\, these deficiencies\, plus the absence of enforcing governance despite the scale of the challenges\, should suppress their motivation to engage – and yet these challenges entice collective action from diverse actors” (Markmann\, 2019\, p. 372). With the Leuphana Transformational Entrepreneurship Days\, we aim to shed light on this paradox and support entrepreneurs and facilitators by creating knowledge via research\, by introducing these concepts into educational formats\, and by promoting academia-practitioner collaborations. Thus\, through empowering researchers and students as well as societal stakeholders we aim to foster impact\, supporting an actual transformation of society in a three-day event: \n21.-23.9.2021 – each day 9.00-12.30\, CEST/MESZ \nWith this online event\, hosted by the Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany) and co-branded by the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB)\, we support the transformation of society through entrepreneurship. These dates present the kick-off to establishing the Entrepreneurship Days as an annual event – bringing together the diversity of entrepreneurship researchers and facilitators from all over Europe in a virtual environment. We can currently offer this event free of charge\, hence there are no fees for facilitators or participants as this event is supported by the project “Multilateral Scouting Processes for Innovation and Career”\, funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) and the federal state of Lower Saxony and situated at the Leuphana University’s Cooperation Service with Prof. Markus Reihlen as the scientific project leader. \nThis is a three-day event with a different topic headlining each (half) day. Participants can then choose between several parallelly running workshops each treating the subject from a different angle. According to each day’s headlining topic\, workshop facilitators offer impulses for fostering societal impact of entrepreneurship research (day 1)\, entrepreneurship education (day 2)\, and entrepreneurship practice/transfer (day 3)\, working together with the participants\, on further creating impact. \n\n\nCall for Impact Development Workshops\n\nTo foster transformational entrepreneurship creating positive societal impact\, we call for Impact Development Workshops (IDWs). IDWs are workshops to collaboratively work together and share ideas about creating impact. IDWs need to have a strong orientation on impact and a good understanding of the target group. Participants in these workshops should not be passive recipients\, but should take an active part in order to ensure an insightful learning process. Accordingly\, these workshops are not supposed to be presentations of papers. Of course\, the IDWs provide chances for building a network and community of impact-driven entrepreneurship scholars. SUMMARY:ESU 2021 Conference and Doctoral Program
DESCRIPTION:ESU CONCEPT \nThe aim of ESU is to strengthen European research traditions and networks in entrepreneurship by focusing on both scholarly sessions as well as on the culture and heritage the hosting country and region has to offer. \nESU also provides a friendly setting for junior scholars to interact and build ties within the research community\, and to learn important skills for their future careers. Supervisors\, researchers and PhD students from international institutions\, active in entrepreneurship research and education\, come together to share experiences and create new international networks\, in a friendly environment. \nESU Doctoral Program is organized in the following format: \nPlenary sessions on specific topics with keynote speakers who will inspire you and invite critical reflection on a variety of topics related to entrepreneurship: interesting topics\, innovative methodologies\, publication process\, among other. \nGroup discussions and presentations where you will have the opportunity to present your work\, discuss the work from peers and receive feedback from experienced scholars. \nThere will be three groups for the doctoral program: \n\nEarly stage group: Students in this group have not started their PhD studies or are in their first year. They present their research proposals.\nWork in progress group: Students in this group are in the middle of their PhD studies and will present their early phase research.\nMature group: Students in this group have completed their PhD research and will present their results papers.\n\nParticipating in the ESU Doctoral Program and all its tasks grants you up to 6 ECTS. Please consult the detailed overview of tasks in this link: Syllabus Hybrid program. \nIn addition to the Doctoral Program\, the ESU Conference offers regular conference tracks open to all attendees. All the presentations will take place on Conference Day\, Wednesday September 1. In particular\, we invite submissions from: \n\nPostdocs: they hold a postdoctoral position. They are invited to present their own paper and perform as a discussant in conference sessions. They may also be invited to act as junior coaches for PhD students\, and they have some dedicated group presentations.\nProfessors: they hold an academic position (permanent or on tenure track). They are invited to present their own paper in conference sessions. They may be invited as senior coaches for PhD students in the group sessions and act\, in some cases\, as keynote in plenary sessions.\n\nFORMAT \nDue to the uncertain circumstances created by the pandemic\, the format of ESU 2021 is being defined following closely the information released daily about the pandemic. Currently\, the organizers are exploring the possibility of organizing the conference in a hybrid format: a limited number of participants who are willing and are allowed to be present in Groningen\, The Netherlands\, will attend ESU in person on site; the participants who are not willing or are not allowed to travel to Groningen but would still like to participate in ESU 2021 will follow the program online. \nCOLLABORATION WITH ECSB \nESU 2021 has the support of the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB). Every year\, ESU hands out a best paper award per Doctoral program group. The winners of the best paper award (the first author of each paper) receive a one-year PhD membership at ECSB\, which grants access to the network and to the different initiatives organized throughout the year such as webinars\, paper development workshops\, and access to information about the network’s main conferences. \nIMPORTANT DATES \nApril 16: Deadline for abstract submissions\nJuly 4: Deadline for full paper submission\nJuly 15: Deadline for early bird registration \nABSTRACT SUBMISSION \nFor both Doctoral Program and Conference: max. 500 words abstracts\, single spaced\, Times New Roman 12pt\, capitalized first letters in title\, no more than ten words in title\, no reference list. SUMMARY:7th ENTERYNG WORKSHOP “ENTreprenEurship Research workshop for YouNG scholars”
DESCRIPTION:The 7th ENTERYNG WORKSHOP “ENTreprenEurship Research workshop for YouNG scholars” (formerly known as AEM-TIM workshop and DREAMT-CYFE workshop) organized by the University of Pavia is an opportunity for PhD students\, post-docs\, and early-career scholars to present their research and discuss it in an international and collaborative environment. In addition to facilitating fruitful discussion\, this program supports the development of a global network of young researchers interested in entrepreneurship\, innovation\, international entrepreneurship and family business. \nTogether with feedback on their working papers\, participants will have the opportunity to attend keynote speeches by internationally renowned scholars and to reflect on their research. The workshop activities are aimed at offering participants valuable suggestions and practical-oriented advice on crafting high quality research papers\, targeting highly ranked journals\, identifying intriguing research questions\, as well as presenting research to academic audiences. \nTarget group and eligibility \nThe target group of the workshop is made of PhD students\, post-docs\, and early-career scholars who aim at contributing to the research fields of entrepreneurship\, innovation\, family business and international entrepreneurship. The workshop is also a valuable opportunity for doctoral students at any stage of their PhD journey to learn and improve their research capabilities.
