SUMMARY:ECSB SocChange SIG Webinar: A critical discussion of the role of social entrepreneurship in social change
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the SocChange SIG webinar on social entrepreneurship and its relationship with positive social change. \nIn this webinar we will explore critiques and potentials of social entrepreneurship? Under what circumstances can social entrepreneurship foster fundamental positive social change\, and under what circumstances does it end up reinforcing the market economy that produces increasing social inequality and environmental degradation? The webinar will feature short presentations by prominent entrepreneurship scholars before inviting a reflective and inclusive conversation about the potentials\, limitations and dark side of social entrepreneurship. \nThe webinar follows from our earlier online event about the work of Karl Polanyi and how it can inform entrepreneurship research. We continue the conversation\, picking up on how the insights of Polanyi generates critical questions about the role of social entrepreneurship. We combine this with perspectives from recent work by prominent social entrepreneurship scholars exploring the dark side of social entrepreneurship. \nConfirmed speakers include Frank Janssen (UC Louvain)\, Sophie Bacq (IMD)\, Anne Sophie Sabbatuci (Kelley School of Business)\, Vicky Nowak (Manchester Metropolitan)\, and Paola Raffaelli (IQS School of Management). \nThe webinar should be of interest to all entrepreneurship scholars interested in new conversations about the role of social entrepreneurship – in particular those looking for new alternative theoretical vocabularies to engage in reflective and critical explorations of this topic. \nThe webinar will take place on the 16th of March 15.30 to 17:00 Central European Time \nWebinar Facilitator: Steffen Korsgaard (University of Southern Denmark) and Verena Meyer (Leuphana University of Lüneburg) \nParticipation in the seminar is free of charge and registration is here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/uc2TY0gDTb-X_IZxNCpc9g \nThe event is organized by the ECSB Entrepreneurship and Social Change SIG. \nMore details about the SIG at: Entrepreneurship and Social Change Special Interest Group | European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship

SUMMARY:9th Paper Development Seminar (9PDS) on Entrepreneurship Process Research
DESCRIPTION:The 9th Paper Development Seminar (9PDS) on Entrepreneurship Process Research aims to help participants develop research results into papers suitable for publication in top-tier academic journals. The 9PDS is co-organized with Observatorio del Ecosistema Emprendedor de Andalucía. The OEEA is responsible for the GEM and GUESSS projects in Andalusia and is affiliated within the Observatorio del Emprendimiento de España. \nProposals applying a process perspective to entrepreneurship are welcome. We are open to any contributions analysing the entrepreneurial process\, whether conceptual or empirical\, and\, in this latter case\, using quantitative (ideally longitudinal\, but also cross-sectional) and/or qualitative methods. \nAdditionally\, In the context of the CreaVES project\, approved in the 2024 call by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI)\, which aims to analyse how social gender stereotypes and personal values influence the decision to become an entrepreneur and the type of venture created\, a special session on Gender & Entrepreneurship will be held during the 9PDS. \nSubmissions will be peer-reviewed. Selected participants will be invited to submit a full paper. The objective is to develop a productive and intimate work environment. For this reason\, we will limit the number of proposals/papers to be accepted into the seminar to a maximum of 20. \nProfs. Ulla Hytti\, Miruna Radu-Lefevbre\, Susana C. Santos & Ute Stephan will attend as keynote speakers and will provide feedback on accepted submissions. \nMore information HERE: 9PDS_2026_Call_final \n\n\nImportant dates: \nDeadline for proposal submission: January 31st\, 2026 \nNotification of acceptance decisions: February 28th\, 2026 \nDeadline for (optional) full paper submission: April 30th\, 2026 \nSeminar: May 28th-29th\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Online workshop: Setting Students Free Through Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Ideally\, we’d like entrepreneurship to be a driver of both individual and collective emancipation. But what does it take for that to actually happen in practice? \nEntrepreneurship is often positioned as a way to increase freedom and agency\, but at the same time it is embedded in systems that can reinforce constraints\, inequalities\, and expectations around performance and responsibility. \nFor educators\, this raises a set of practical questions. What does it mean for entrepreneurship to be emancipatory? When and how does it support autonomy and agency\, and where are its limits? And how can these insights inform the way we design and teach entrepreneurship? \nThese are the questions explored in this SSES Educator Workshop. \nIn this context\, emancipation is not treated as an abstract ideal\, but as something that plays out in concrete situations: what choices students feel they have\, what risks they are expected to take\, and what kinds of futures are presented to them as possible. \nThe session is led by Michela Loi\, whose research explores how educational environments\, social contexts\, and learning processes shape entrepreneurial mindsets and behaviours. Her recent work focuses on entrepreneurship as a potential driver of emancipation\, which forms the basis for this workshop. \nAfter the workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nExplain the concept of emancipation and distinguish it from related ideas such as empowerment and inclusion\nAnalyse when and how entrepreneurial activity can support—or limit—emancipatory processes in different contexts\nCritically reflect on the assumptions underlying their own teaching of entrepreneurship\nIdentify opportunities to design learning experiences that support autonomy\, agency\, and meaningful student engagement\nApply selected approaches or tools to make their entrepreneurship education more reflective\, inclusive\, and context-aware\n\nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR\nMichela Loi is an Associate Professor of Organisation Studies and Entrepreneurship at the Department of Economics and Business Sciences\, University of Cagliari (Italy). She holds a PhD in Organisational Psychology\, and her research focuses on entrepreneurship education\, entrepreneurial learning\, and the role of universities in fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems. \nHer work investigates how educational environments\, social contexts\, and learning processes shape entrepreneurial mindsets\, intentions\, and behaviours. She has published research on entrepreneurship education\, entrepreneurial universities\, and the organisational dimensions of innovation\, contributing to international conferences and leading scholarly outlets in the field. She currently serves as Research Editor for Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy. SUMMARY:RENT XL
DESCRIPTION:ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN AND FOR FAST-CHANGING WORLDS: Making the Future with Resilience\, Impact\, and Fairness \nThis year’s theme highlights the dual responsibility of entrepreneurship: to navigate fast-changing worlds with resilience and foresight while contributing to the creation of fairer\, more sustainable and hopeful futures. \nWe seek to critically examine how entrepreneurial action can (re)produce these dynamic contexts\, the ethical and societal implications of such actions\, and how entrepreneurs can embrace their potential as agents of positive impact. \nThe submission deadline is 15 MAY 2026.
