SUMMARY:PDW Embedding a Multidisciplinary Approach to Entrepreneurship Education –Stakeholder Approach and Institutional Practice
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nEmbedding a multidisciplinary approach to entrepreneurship education (EE) remains a complex and evolving challenge for entrepreneurship educators who are still grappling with how to extend EE beyond business and management disciplines. This interactive PDW introduces a Stakeholder Engagement Methodology (SEM)\, drawing on Stakeholder Management Theory (SMT) and the Interest–Influence Matrix to demonstrate how a multidisciplinary approach to EE has been successfully embedded at the University of Liverpool (UK). \nThrough facilitated discussions\, participants will critically explore the challenges and opportunities of embedding a multidisciplinary EE\, reflect on institutional bottlenecks\, evaluate effective practices\, and collaboratively identify practical strategies for fostering  impactful EE that goes beyond the boundaries of business and management disciplines. \nKey discussion questions: \n\nWhat are the main barriers to embedding multidisciplinary EE?\nWhat does effective practice look like in diverse disciplinary contexts?\nHow can institutions systematically engage key stakeholders to develop\, design and embed a multidisciplinary EE?\n\nBenefits to participants \n\nGain a practical framework for stakeholder mapping and engagement tailored to EE.\nExplore how to navigate institutional bottlenecks and leverage enablers.\nLearn how to adapt and embed EE across multiple disciplines.\nEngage in knowledge sharing with fellow educators\, programme leads\, and institutional stakeholders.\nLeave with actionable strategies to cultivate students’ entrepreneurial knowledge\, skills\, and competencies across disciplines.\n\nWho should attend? \n\nEntrepreneurship educators\nProgramme leaders and directors\nInstitutional change agents\nSenior HEI staff involved in curriculum development and innovation\n\nParticipation is free but a registration is required. SUMMARY:2nd Annual RENT Abstract Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to submit to RENT in Gdansk this year? And have you… \n\nalready planned to submit\, but need some feedback (especially if it is one of the first times that you submit to the RENT)?\nconsidered a submission\, but are not sure whether your work is a good fit for the RENT?\nhave a first draft or sketch of your submission and want to further work on it with your peers?\n\nIf any of these conditions apply to you\, join us for this year’s Abstract Writing Workshop! Together\, we will meet online via Zoom and first\, get some tips from experienced ECSB members to improve the chances of our submission. While this provides a good point to get started\, the majority of this workshop will be spent writing the abstract\, getting and giving feedback and jointly reflecting our writing process with support from experienced advisors. \nWith this interactive workshop\, we aim to contribute to high-quality submissions of extended abstracts for the RENT and\, from an individual participant’s perspective\, we will actually get (most) of the writing done. This workshop entails: \n\nExpert’s advice on abstract writing for the RENT\nWorking individually on your writing\nReflecting together in small groups\nGiving and receiving feedback from experienced advisors\nDiscuss challenges with experts and colleagues\n\nThis means that this is an actual workshop in which you will actually work on your own abstracts. To get the most out of this\, please prepare a draft version of your abstract beforehand. This can be a rough sketch in bullet points\, but bring along a version that you can further work on. \nhttp://www.rent-research.org/conference-tracks-2023 \nhttp://www.rent-research.org/SUBMISSION-DEADLINE2023 \nLet’s get the abstract writing done together! \n  \nOrganizers\nThis workshop is organized as a joint initiative from several ECSB country vice presidents\, represented by: \n\nVerena Meyer (ECSB country VP for Germany)\nRenata Osowska (ECSB country VP for UK)\nJarmila Šebestová (ECSB country VP for Czech Republic)\nPekka Stenholm (ECSB country VP for Finland)\n\n\nParticipation\nParticipation is free\, but a registration is required by 11 April 2023. The registered participants will receive a link to a brief survey\, providing us with some information to ensure efficient group work\, and a Zoom link to join the meeting. \nContact person\nVerena Meyer (verena.meyer(at)leuphana.de)

SUMMARY:PDW: Assessing Multiple-enterprise Social Impacts and Stakeholder Values
DESCRIPTION:In this 2.5 hour collaborative workshop “Assessing Multiple-enterprise Social Impacts and Stakeholder Values: The Benefits of a Human Capabilities Lens for Social Entrepreneurship“\, participants are introduced to the Human Capabilities Approach (HCA) as a multidimensional\, people-centered framework for social impact negotiation and assessment. As an entrepreneurial tool\, HCA provides a fertile ground for coordination among diverse sets of stakeholder groups with varied values and priorities in settings of social entrepreneurship. Workshop participants are given opportunities to use the HCA framework to shift their entrepreneurial awareness beyond isolated impacts towards the broader set of multi-faceted (and\, ideally\, socially-sustainable) impacts of an enterprise.  The HCA framework is also relevant for board-level corporate governance and strategic management\, particularly towards determining social impact objectives and assessing performance. It can also provide insight for impact investors\, for civil society monitoring\, or for government policy-makers working on multi-stakeholder initiatives. \nKeywords: Human Capabilities Approach\, Stakeholder Value\, Multidimensional Assessment\, Social Entrepreneurship\, Social Impact. \nRead more and register on 4 December 2022 at the latest: https://www.eventbrite.fi/e/pdw-assessing-multiple-enterprise-social-impacts-and-stakeholder-values-registration-464234697477

SUMMARY:PDW “Please make me whole again – How to practice sustainable entrepreneurship research”
DESCRIPTION:ECSB offers an online Professional Development Workshop “Please make me whole again – How to practice sustainable entrepreneurship research” on 15 March 2022 at 10:00-12:00 CET. \nThe PDW is open to ECSB & ISBE members. Register by 11 March via the link available at the bottom of the page. If you do not have a valid ECSB members\, to join ECSB\, visit: https://ecsb.org/join-ecsb/. To join ISBE: visit https://isbe.org.uk/about-us/how-to-join/. \nPDW Description\nPDW Chairs: Sarah Dodd (Strathclyde University) and Friederike Welter (University of Siegen) \nBackground: Sustainability and entrepreneurship have been uneasy bedfellows through much of our short discipline history. Enterprise has been seen largely as a global driver for economic growth\, and for the creation of financial value through new industries and ventures. Yet our ever-present critical chorus has made considerable progress in recent years\, too\, towards sustainable entrepreneurship. This reminds us that so much of real value cannot be measured in dollars and cents\, and that entrepreneurship has the potential to be a sustaining\, stewarding\, re-energizing\, joyful\, creative force\, too. We have come to celebrate and study the smaller scale\, the frugal\, the locally responsive and embedded – a human and humane entrepreneurship which nourishes resources instead of draining them. \nBut what about us as entrepreneurship scholars? COVID 19 is but one major impact factor amongst many which have\, perhaps ironically\, made our research less sustaining of ourselves\, whilst we simultaneously embrace the principles of sustainable entrepreneurship for other peoples and places. \nWhat can we learn from these new insights\, and these everyday entrepreneurs\, that can be brought into our own practices? How can we transform entrepreneurship research into a practice which also nurtures our passions\, peoples\, and places? How can we\, reflexively\, develop and lead sustainable entrepreneurship scholarship that feeds our own minds\, bodies and souls? How can we ourselves enact and manifest the virtues and values of sustainable entrepreneurship that we strive to understand and promote in the lives of others? How do we cope with the ever-increasing demands of our profession on our worktime\, and the growing volume of outputs to be delivered? How do we engage in self-care? These are some of the questions we want to explore in our PDW. \nWe believe these questions to be of great importance for the future of individual research careers as well as for the academic system as a whole. Research is\, for most of us and most of the times\, a dream career. We are privileged in combining passion and work. On the other hands\, institutional demands and expectations have grown tremendously\, and excellence is anticipated across all three of our missions. The pandemic has highlighted the numerous competing – if not outright conflicting – demands of our research careers. Junior and early career scholars faced difficulties in making the next career step. Those involved in family care juggled too many responsibilities at the same time. All of this had or will have an impact on ourselves\, our research and our professional future. \nTherefore\, we suggest it is time to begin acting more like sustainable entrepreneurs within our own research practice\, learning from our own research results\, and building new ways of being and becoming sustainable entrepreneurship scholars\, including ourselves within that circle of creative care. \nTarget groups: entrepreneurship scholars at different stages of their career\, looking for learning and networking opportunities to apply their research results / advice to entrepreneurs to their own working lives\, and those of the researchers they nurture. \nOutline of the PDW: Participants will be asked to “bring” along with them digital postcards which represent and illustrate their experiences (insights\, learnings and visions) as to what self-sustaining entrepreneurship research might mean to each of them. In groups of 5-6 people\, each participant will have 3 minutes to share these images and insights. \nGroups will then be invited to each co-create a virtual bricolage of self-sustaining entrepreneurship research\, from their postcards and other sources. \nAfter a short break\, the second hour of the workshop will see participants reflecting on themes and patterns emerging from the bricolage gallery. These will be consolidated into a single word co-created cloud\, before participants are challenged to begin outlining a research agenda for this area. \nRegister by 11 March 2022: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUvc-Cqrj8vG9a72f2xYAKNCvFuisgyfibB

SUMMARY:PDW: Developing Responsible and Sustainable Innovations in Entrepreneurship Education – Introducing the Sandbox Approach
DESCRIPTION:Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) are workshops to share knowledge and expertise and foster practical\, professional and intellectual skills of participants. PDWs were included in the RENT pre-conference day programme for the first time in RENT XXIX in Zagreb 2015. The concept proved to be successful and PDWs have been part of the pre-conference day since then. Due to COVID-19\, ECSB will offer to its members virtual PDWs in 2020-2021.  \nVirtual PDW: Developing Responsible and Sustainable Innovations in Entrepreneurship Education – Introducing the Sandbox Approach on 11 November 2020 (the date TBC)\nOrganisers\nVerena Meyer\, PhD Student and Research Associate\, Leuphana University of Lüneburg\, Institute of Management and Organization – verena.meyer@leuphana.de\nFlavio Pinheiro Martins\, Student at University of Sao Paulo\, School of Economics\, Business Administration and Accounting at Ribeirão Preto – fpmartins@usp.br\nProf. Dr. Markus Reihlen\, Vice President (Graduate School\, Young Academics & Entrepreneurship) and Professor of Strategic Management at Leuphana University of Lüneburg as well as International Research Fellow at the Said Business School\, University of Oxford – reihlen@leuphana.de\nFabian Pleß\, PhD Student and Research Associate\, Leuphana University of Lüneburg\, Institute of Management and Organization – fabian.pless@leuphana.de\nYasmin Azim Zadeh\, Research Associate\, Leuphana University of Lüneburg\, Cooperation and Transfer Service – azimzade@leuphana.de \nAbstract\nAs entrepreneurship educators\, we typically bring together students as entrepreneurial teams and let them work on their own ideas. But how could we get these students to tackle global challenges and develop sustainable ideas? One key mechanism is open innovation. To make use of this\, entrepreneurship education concepts need to bridge the perspectives of multiple stakeholders. Developing innovation communities within a framework of an open innovation process presents a suitable approach with a possible long-term impact in this regard. The ‘Sandbox Approach’ combines a structured open innovation process while fostering an innovation community which is enabled to solve regional challenges. In this professional development workshop\, participants will experience the ‘Sandbox Approach’ at first hand and develop comprehensive concepts for their common challenges. \nWorkshop Objectives \n\nIntroduce the Sandbox Approach\nExperience the efficiency of structured open innovation processes as well as how innovation communities function by accounting for a multitude of perspectives\nReflect on challenges that hinder innovativeness in everyday work and develop first ideas and more comprehensive solutions for these challenges\nDiscuss ideas to combine open innovation processes with innovation communities and reflecting on one’s own role within these processes/communities\nReflect on own roles as researchers and educators to foster responsible and sustainable innovation\nDiscuss the transfer of this learning experience to other contexts in which sustainable innovations within certain constraints are crucial\n\nMain audience\nThe workshop offers insights from the field of innovation to offer a broadening of perspectives. The main content of this workshop best aligns with conference tracks #2 (How to develop entrepreneurial skills? The role of education) and #7 (Entrepreneurship education\, learning\, and knowledge dissemination)\, but also strives towards an integration of concepts from tracks #16 and #17\, as social and sustainable entrepreneurship are also relevant perspectives in the workshop context. As such\, the workshop can be of interest to the broad RENT community. \n
